Registration Day
Woke up to ‘Don’t Sleep in the Subway’ by Petula Clark. I’ve customised my phone’s alarm so that I wake up to a different song each day of the week. That way I won’t get used to any particular song and sleep through it. Anyway, went down to the kitchen for a bite to eat before going down to the LRC (Learning Resource Centre) to get registered. Had to remember to bring my passport and all my papers with me. Once I go registered I got my student card and checked in. I then went on to the FMM (Film, Music and Media Building) to go to my first set of induction activities. This was mostly a talk about the course. We were set an assignment to pair up with someone (I paired up with John) and we had to draw each other in a way that showed each other’s interests and hobbies. So we spent the afternoon in John’s room, drawing away on our graphics tablets. I drew him holding Finn’s gold sword from Adventure Time and an ipod (he likes listening to electronic music) and wearing an 80s style waistcoat. I also gave him a fire background because fire is cool, innit?
After that I made myself a pot noodle for dinner and spent the evening chatting to family and friends either over skype or on the phone. I’d just had a shower and I was halfway through talking to my mate, Squisa, when I suddenly realised I was supposed to be going to a kitchen meeting outside (wouldn’t it make more sense to have it in the kitchen? Go figure.) Anyway, the RAs (Resident Assistants) gave us some useful info and contact numbers before getting us to play a game which involved getting into a line, holding hands and passing a hula hoop along the line. We got candy just for playing. Section 46 were drunk as newts again. Tell me, how does getting smashed every night equal fun?! O_o They are definitely going to be trouble.
We went back in but no sooner had we sat down then the fire alarm went off so we all traipsed outside and waited to be told it was safe to go back in. Turns out some lumper thought it would be funny to spray deodorant into the sensor. Three guesses for who? -__-
Eventually got back to talking with Squisa and showed her my room and my new threads (a baseball jacket, lol, I lovez it) before saying goodnight and, soon after, going to bed.
